Copy/Put Sony HDR-CX350V MTS/M2TS files to iMovie '11
Source From: Brorsoft
I bought a Sony HDR CX350V because Apple said that the HD videos (AVCHD Format) could be downloaded into iMovie 11. I recently tried but iMovie does not see the videos on the Sony. I followed the instructions on their web page with no luck. I also tried to save the files as archive files but that didn't work. Any suggestions? I'm new to Mac and I take tons of videos of the kids and I do not want to switch back to my Dell laptop (which can't process HD movies without skipping them). Thanks in advance!
Sony HDR-CX350V can record 1920 x 1080 Full HD video, but the Full HD video is AVCHD format. As we know, the AVCHD videos often cause a few problems when the users intend to edit these videos in FCP, iMovie, FCE or other Mac video editing programs like the above user. Do you also want to import Sony HDR-CX350 AVCHD to iMovie '11 for editing? In this article we will talk about how to make Sony HDR-CX350 AVCHD editable for iMovie on Mac OS X.
Although Sony HDR-CX350V is listed on Apple's iMovie '11 Supported Cameras site, the user still failed. We diagnose the problem. You may try importing from the Card Reader. If the Card reader is recognized by iMovie, you may have to copy the internal memory clips (if any) to a memory card in order to import the clips on the internal memory. While, if not, you’d better take the common and easiest solution- transcode Sony HDR-CX350V AVCHD to Apple Intermediate Code(AIC), more friendly format for iMovie. In that case, we recommend the best AVCHD to AIC Converter that allows you to convert AVCHD videos to iMovie favorable format AIC on Mac easily with the preset profile for iMovie/FCE. Besides, this Mac AVCHD converter is also available for you to convert AVCHD/AVCHD Lite to ProRes for FCP.
Step 1: After the installation of the AVCHD to iMovie Converter, you can launch it and import your MTS/M2TS files to it.
Tip: To join multiple MTS/M2TS files into one file for easier editing in iMovie '11, please tick the "Merge into one" box.
Step 2: Click on the “Format” and you will get a dropdown menu and then select iMovie and Final Cut Express > Apple Intermediate Codec(AIC) (*.mov), which is the best format for iMovie with the proper video codec.
Note: To get a perfect output video for editing in iMovie, please click the Setting icon to do some audio/video settings. Here you’d better set the video frame rate as 30fps, video size as 1920*1080 to keep the best quality for editing Sony HDR-CX350V MTS in iMovie '11.
Step 3: Click “Convert” button to start the Sony HDR-CX350V MTS to AIC for iMovie '11 conversion on Mac OS X with the best MTS converter for Mac.
When the conversion is done, you can get the AIC .mov video from the output folder you set. Now, copy/put Sony HDR-CX350V AVCHD to iMovie '11 for editing freely.
