Import Sony RX100 MTS to FCP 7 for editing with best video quality on Mac
Source From: Brorsoft
Equipped with a brilliant F1.8 Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T Lens, an integrated pop up flash and featuring a 20.2 megapixel Exmor CMOS image sensor that excels in ultra low-light situations, Sony Digital Camera Cyber-Shot DSC-RX100 can offer you the capability of recording ultra high-definition still images and Full HD 1080p videos at 60 frames per second (fps). If you have got one, I believe you will record some videos about freinds, families or others. If you transfer Sony RX100 MTS recordings to Final Cut Pro 7 for further editing, you will meet some trouble.
It seems that the Mac editing software can not recognize the AVCHD recordings at all, even via Log & Transfer. After googling, we get the answer. FCP can not natively support the MTS,M2TS files. In order to solve the problem, FCP studio luanched the L&T, a background converting tool, to transcode MTS to ProRes, the compatible video format of FCP, thus the AVCHD footages can be ingested and editted in Final Cut Pro, including FCP 6,7 and FCP X (10.0.3).
I am using Brorsoft MTS to Final Cut Pro 7 Converter, whcih can easily and quickly convert Sony DSC-RX100 1080p MTS to Apple ProRes for FCP 7 with lossless so that you can edit the footages with FCP 7 without any problem on Mac OS X. Besides, the MTS video converter is developed with some useful editting fatures, including merging several clips into one for easy importing, downsizing the files for editing and storage, adding text,image,video to original files, replacing orginal audio tracks, etc.
Guide: How to transcode Sony 1080,60p MTS to Final Cut Pro 7 with best video quality on Mac OS X
Step 1: Free download the MTS Converter for FCP 7, launch it to load your Sony DSC-RX100 1080p AVCHD recordings to it;
Step 2: Select the FCP compatible video format, Final Cut Pro > Apple PreRes (.*mov), by clicking the Format box;
Step 3: Adjust Video and Audio parameters in the Settings. If you don't have special needs, you can just skip the step since the default settings are the most suitable ones for FCP 7 editing.
Step 4: Click "Convert" and strart the Sony MTS to Final Cut Pro 7 conversion on Mac OS X.
Some useful Tips and tricks for the 1080,60p MTS file to FCP 7 conversion:
1. If you wan to preview the imported file, plesase double click it.
2. Tick the box "Merge into one" and your recordings will be combined as one for easy editing in FCP 7.
3. For FCP 7 editors, we recommend 1920*1080 as video size and 30fps as video bitrate.
4. If you want to get the converted MOV file with a smaller size and save the converting time, Apple ProRes 422 (LT), Apple ProRes 422 (Proxy) and ProRes 4444 are your options.
