Hot Mac P2 MXF to MOV Converter- Import Panasonic P2 MXF to iMovie for editing on Mac
Source From: Brorsoft
Panasonic P2HD camcorders are more and more popular among us. With P2 HD, you can capture extraordinary high definition images in DVCPRO HD and AVC-Intra with full production quality 2/3” CCDs, 1/3” 3-MOS, and 4:2:2. As the industry standard for HD production, the DVCPRO HD format offers users cost-effective, proven intra-frame compression, where each frame stands on it own for editing, and its full 4:2:2 color sampling allows the image to hold up under color correction.
It is a pity that if you’ve got a Panasonic P2HD camcorder like AG-HVX200, AJ-HPX3100, AG-HPX250, AJ-HPX3700, AG-HPX170, AG-HPX500, AG-HPX370, AJ-HPX2700, AJ-HPX2100, etc, the P2 MXF format will not be an unfamiliar for you. You may have found MXF format is not well-suited for some non-linear video edit software including the Apple tool- iMovie.
One of my clients just bought a used Panasonic P2 camera, a HVX200, and wants to edit P2 MXF footages in iMovie 11 on OS 10.6, but he found iMovie can not recognize the P2 .mxf footages. Any idea?
Then how to import Panasonic P2 MXF to iMovie for editing without any problem?
In this article, we will show you an easy way. To import and edit P2 MXF files in iMoive with ease, you need transcode Panasonic P2 MXF to iMovie supported video format. And we learn that AIC(Apple InterMediate Codec) codec MOV format is the iMovie perfectly supported format. In this case, a professional and easy-to-use P2 MXF Converter is the key. Here Mac P2 MXF to MOV Converter is the highly recommended tool for you. With it, you can transcode Panasonic P2 MXF to AIC MOV for iMovie further editing on Mac easily with least quality loss.
Step 1: Download and install the best P2 MXF to iMovie Converter and launch it to add your P2 MXF videos from CONTENTS>>VIDEO to it.
Tips:
1. When import MXF video to the P2 MXF Converter, please make sure you have the entire MXF file structure as it saved on your camcorder’s P2 card. If you only have some loose .MXF clips, your files will have image only without audio.
2. If you wanna merge several P2 MXF videos into one file, just tick the “Merge into one” box.
Step 2: Click on the dropdown menu of “Format” and then move your pointer to iMovie and Final Cut Express > Apple Intermediate Codec(AIC) (*.mov), the best video format for iMovie. Afterwards, you can set the output folder.
Step 3: Click the “Settings” icon to customize the audio/video settings for iMovie. You’d better set the video frame rate as 30fps, video size as 1920*1080 to keep the best quality for editing in iMovie. (For original 50i MXF video, frame rate should be in 25fps.)
Note: Before start the conversion, you need to deinterlace 1080i P2 MXF files first.
Step 4: Click the “Convert” button; the Mac MXF video converter will start converting Panasonic P2 MXF to AIC MOV and joining the P2 MXF files for editing in iMovie immediately.
After the P2 MXF to MOV Mac conversion, you can get the output from the output folder. Now, you can import and edit Panasonic P2 MXF in iMoive keeping high quality without any trouble.
